Late Thursday night via his social media, Caldwell County’s Cole Smiley announced his commitment to Lindsey Wilson men’s basketball — beginning this fall for the 2020-21 season, and likely beyond.
The 6-4 forward has only seen his size and his skill improve over the last three seasons, going from averaging 2.1 ppg and 2.5 rpg in 2017-18 to averaging 7.9 ppg and a Tigers’ best 6.3 rpg this past season for coach Daniel Kukahiko. And all while shooting a career-best 54.6% from the field and 66.2% from the charity stripe.
The Blue Raiders — out of Columbia, Kentucky, and coached by Keith Adkins — went 17-14 last season and finished 6-10 in the Mid-South Conference. Its junior varsity team finished 10-12.
Adkins is quite familiar with NAIA basketball, having spent the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons at Life (Georgia) and the previous 19 seasons at Campbellsville (Kentucky) before joining with LWC.
