Caldwell County eighth-grade golfer Austin Crick has accomplished quite the feat before entering his high school years.

Crick is preparing for the Middle School State Golf Tournament this weekend at Quail Chase Golf Club in Louisville after qualifying at Calvert City Country Club last week in the regional tournament.

Crick shot a 39, good enough for a fourth-place tie last Sunday to send him to the state round after a brilliant 9-hole performance.

Crick also shot an 87 last month in Calvert City at the Marshall County Invitational, and has represented the Tigers well as the lone boys golfer.

Crick has been noticeably lowering his scores each passing week in preparation for tournament season.

The Louisville tournament will be an 18-hole event this weekend.
