Justin Klidzejs was one of two champions at the Commando Crush at Hendersonville High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Klidzejs finished first in the 106 weight class. Junior Timothy Nichols, was the other Caldwell County wrestling team member who claimed a champion title on Saturday, Jan. 14. Nichols finished first in the 138 weight division.
Two other Tigers, Colin Teutsch and Cofy Walls, claimed medalist honors. Teutsch finished second in the 126 weight division, while Walls finished third in 132. Overall, Caldwell County finished fourth out of 22 schools in team rankings with 120 points. Christian County took top honors with 169.5 points, while host Hendersonville finished second.
After pinning his first two opponents in 24 and 50 seconds respectively, Klidzjes (20-8) won by 10-2 decision over Larson Pilant (20-12).
Nichols won by pin in all three matches of the day. Nichols (32-4) pinned Sean Johnson (12-10) of Kenwood in the championship match at 2:25 to take the title in the 138 weight class.
Teutsch (31-5) finished runner up in the 126 weight class after falling to Ashton Dy (25-7) of Hendersonville in the championship match at 1:23. Teutsch won his first two matches of the day by decision 6-0 and 8-3.
Walls (33-4) battled back in the consolation bracket after a 2-1 loss to Xzavier Cox of McGavock (15-8) to finish third after a 7-1 decision over Dane Miller of Christian County, and a 14-11 decision over William Avila of West Creek. West Creek finished third overall as a team.
Tigers wrestling will be back in action Thursday night for senior night at the Butler Building. The Tigers will host Paducah Tilghman and Calloway County.
