Lady Tigers overpower Tilghman

Caldwell County Lady Tiger Avery Ritchie moves the ball upfield against Paducah Tilghman Tuesday. The Lady Tigers would triumph against the Tornado, 3-2.

The storm that rolled through Princeton last Tuesday night wasn’t in favor of the Paducah Tilghman Lady Tornadoes. Despite rain and lightning delays, the Lady Tigers cancelled Tilghman 3-2.

Tilghman’s Kiersa Atnip scored first, giving the Tilghman the 1-0 lead.

Tilghman led for the rest of the first half until a lightning delay just 10 minutes before half time.

The subsequent 30-minute game delay must have been what the Lady Tigers needed. Keegan Miller tied the game up on a pass from Tallie Branch, 1-1.

Atnip managed to slip one by Caldwell goalkeeper Abbey Gill with just over 3 minutes left in the first half, putting the Lady Tigers down 2-1 at the break.

With 20 minutes still to play, Harper Ritchey tied the game up, 2-2 with a long shot to the right corner.

A penalty kick over a foul in the box gave Caldwell a chance to take the lead just minutes before the game’s end. Kendall Boyd didn’t disappoint. A swift kick to the right while Lady Tornado goalkeeper Jaelynn Carver dove left was enough to give Caldwell the 3-2 win.

The Lady Tigers outshot Tilghman 14-9 with Gill stacking up 4 saves and Carver snatching 8.
