EDDYVILLE — The Lyon County Lady Lyons used a 12-1 run over the first and second quarters to keep visiting Caldwell County at bay in their 46-39 win on Tuesday.

Caldwell County (3-6) took an early lead when senior Majah Hollowell hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 3-3 and hit another to give the Lady Tigers a quick 6-3 lead with 5:11 in the first quarter.

That’s when Lyon County (6-4) opened up an eight-minute run to put them ahead 15-7 when Rose Smith hit a jumper with 5:03 left in the second period.

After exchanging baskets, the Lady Lyons led 17-9 with 2:34 left in the half when Caldwell County mounted a comeback.

CCHS outscored Lyon County 6-2 over the remainder of the half to cut the deficit to 19-15 at halftime, using baskets from Katy Smiley, Karsyn Parker and Morgan McDaniels.

The Lady Tigers scored first at the opening of the second half when Hollowell made two free throws to trim the gap to 19-17, but the team would get no closer.

Caldwell County was led by 14 points from Majah Hollowell. Parker added six points and McDaniels and Smiley each chipped in four.

Smith led all scorers with 18 points for the Lyons. Ella DeFew put in 14 points, and Calista Collins had 10.

The Lady Tigers outrebounded Lyon County 43-32, with Hollowell pulling down a team-high nine boards. Jaggers and Parker each had seven rebounds, while Smiley and A.J. Hollowell each had five.

Lyon County’s Collins had a game-high 11 rebounds, while Gracen Wynn had 10.
