The Caldwell County Tigers made quick work of a 12-1 win over Fort Campbell at the VFW ballpark on Friday, May 13. It took just four and a half innings to finish the Falcons off.
One bright spot for the Falcons was a single from Eric Blaszkowski in the first inning that scored the team’s only run.
Caldwell County scored four runs in the first on an error, a double from Hunter Newsom and a single from Cole Slone. In all, Caldwell County tallied 10 hits in the high scoring affair.
Logan Smiley was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Luke Parker and Newsom were both 2-for-3, each scoring one run and batting in two. Carter Whittington was 2-for-4, scoring a pair of runs and two RBIs.
Newsom was the winning pitcher, allowing just one hit and run over four innings striking out eight. Smiley threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen, striking out two.
