Tigers swat Falcons

Caldwell County’s Tyler Linton shields the ball against Fort Campbell.

The Caldwell County Tigers improved their record to 6-9 after a 2-1 win over Region 2 foe Fort Campbell last Tuesday.

Fort Campbell comes off a three-game winning streak against Trigg County, Christian County and Fort Knox.

After not having a team to begin the season, Fort Campbell has shown some real improvements over the season. Mateo Cerritos Gato is just one of the players who is getting some recognition.

Gato scored the Falcons only goal of the night. He struck first just 10 minutes into the game to give Fort Campbell a 1-0 lead.

Caldwell answered back about nine minutes later when Blake Vivrette sent a pass toward the goal ahead of John Adams.

Vivrette’s timing was precision as Adams put it in the net to tie up the game 1-1.

Vivrette was back at the net again with less than two minutes to play in the first half. A breakaway run turned shot on goal gave Caldwell the 2-1, lead.

The entire second half was a back and forth defensive battle, but the first half score remained the same.

Caldwell goalie Corbin Nichols posted five saves while Falcon goalkeeper London Tubbs posted eight.
