The Kentucky 2A Championships Section I Tournament in Dixon saw both the Tigers and Lady Tigers downed by tough Webster County squads.

In girls' action, the Lady Trojans shook off a sluggish first quarter to open up offensively, heading into halftime with a 27-14 advantage.

Webster continued to pound in the second half, finishing the third quarter with a 49-21 lead and ending the match with a 65-30 victory.

Bella McConnell's seven points led the Tigers in the contest. Majah Hollowell and Jacey Jaggers had five each, with four for Karsyn Parker, three for Jada Boyd and two each for Peyton Young, Parris Gray and Morgan McDaniels.

After a weekend break, the Lady Tigers return to action at home Monday, squaring off against Calloway County at the CAB gym in Princeton. The tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

• The Caldwell boys' squad ended the night with a 71-64 loss to the Trojans, after an 8-0 Webster run in the final 3 minutes of play Thursday.

Caldwell led 14-12 after the first quarter and stayed up by four at halftime, going to the locker room up 31-27.

Webster rallied in the third to retake a one-point lead headed into the final quarter 42-41, and the game remained neck-and-neck until late in the contest, when Caldwell failed to answer the Trojans' offensive run.

Cayden Fraliex led Tiger scorers with 20 points in the contest, followed by 15 for Derrin Boyd and 13 for John Davis.

The Tigers return to action Tuesday, with a home match against Calloway County. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at the CAB gym.
